Mount Meru offers a substantial mountain journey within Arusha National Park. The ascent moves through forest to high volcanic terrain, with nights at Miriakamba and Saddle huts. It is a destination in its own right, not simply an easy warm-up for Kilimanjaro.

TANAPA recommends four days for acclimatization. Climbing groups require an armed ranger escort. The summit day is demanding; route, weather and your fitness should shape the plan.
